With the generous support of Family Health International / IMPACT / USAID , Peace Trust initiated a Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Support Pilot Project with inbuilt components of providing Community Based Voluntary Counseling and Testing (CBVCT) and conducting Specialized STI camps - NESAM project from September 2003 to September 2006.

While the Prevention, Care and Support components were implemented in Tirunelveli Corporation area and Palayamkottai block, CBVCT,STI Camps and Medical care components were implemented in besides Tirunelveli Corporation area and Palayamkottai block, Manur Block, Ambasamudram block, Kadayam and Pappakudi blocks of Tirunelveli district in collaboration with Arumbugal Trust, AUSSI CODES and Centre for People's Education the implementing partners of PREEYAM Project supported by Family Health International / IMPACT / USAID.

Peace Trust-APAC Institution and Home Based Care and Support Programme
Peace Trust- APAC project is the transition project of the Nesam project funded by FHI-IMPACT-USAID . Peace Trust- APAC-VHS-USAID project was for duration of 6 months from October 2006 to March 2007 and was implemented in the target area of Tirunelveli Corporation and Palayamkottai Block area in Tirunelveli District.

Peace Trust - APAC project has 2 major components and each component has its own specific target population and target area. Home based care and support activities are implemented in the Corporation area and Palayamkottai block and Institutional Based Services was provided besides Tirunelveli Corporation and Palayamkottai Block, to Manur, Pappakudi, Ambai, Kadayam, Valioor, Nanguneri, Cheranmahadevi and Kallakadu for the implementing partners of the APAC Care & Support Programme and to the referrals of the other NGO's and Institutions.

As such the target area of Tirunelveli Corporation and other blocks is a vivid combination of both the affluent urban culture and poverty stricken rural sector. The corporation area is thickly populated and has all the characteristics and deviant behaviors` associated with urban life. The corporation has a population of 4,20,010 living in 55 municipal wards. The Palayamkottai block has a population of 70,848 living in 2 town Panchayats and 30 village Panchayats

In accordance with the realized needs of the target area, the interventions are:
Home based care - care continuum for the PLHA and their families
Clinical care services for the PLHA and their families
Behaviour change interventions
