An Income generation programme focusing on women to enable them to support their families was to introduce Micro-financing to support them in terms of pastoral care, business advice and start of viable ventures, in order that the women could become self reliant.
The MED programme is the latest addition to the existing programmes of Peace Trust. With the generous support of Links International UK, a Micro Enterprise Development Programme for the needy rural folk focusing on the women community has been started. In this Programme small subsidies are provided to the beneficiaries to start viable ventures according to their skills and local need. The Goal of the Programme is to enhance their quality of life spiritually, physically and economically and make them responsible families in accordance to the scriptures.
The beneficiaries are requested to pay monthly installments for the subsidy taken, a small percentage of interest is also charged on the subsidies provided, the main focus of this Programme is to enhance their livelihood and cultivate the habit of savings through the income generated from the activity among them.
The activities under this programme are as follows
1. Income Generation and Entrepreneur Development programmes
2. Micro Credit schemes
3. Beneficiaries meetings
4. Pastoral Care
5. Information on viable ventures
6. Inoculating the concept of savings
Clean drinking Water to a thirsty community
All around the world people are dying simply because they lack something most of us take for granted every day- CLEAN WATER. Taking this vital necessity into consideration Links International has provided 5 water filter kits to Peace Trust, to provide clean, hygienic drinking water to Peace Community Care Centre, CSP and CDSP programme and for the Orphanage in Kirubai Illam.
